Preview of Gatsby Essay

As time goes on people don't really like to let go of the past and still hang on. The Great Gatsby reveals situations that have problems that happen because the characters in the book are either still involved with the past or being the same person and not changing. Gatsby, a rich man, who is obsessed with Daisy. Bought a house near Daisy just so they can be close by. Gatsby can't get over Daisy because he can't let go of the past.

 Daisy gets married to Tom but Gatsby still interrupts and still tries to see her. Daisy marries Tom even though she loved Gatsby, she knew it would've been best to move on for the better of her because Gatsby was poor and she didn't want to wait for him. Gatsby doesn't like that Daisy is with another man that's why he keeps telling Tom all these things about Daisy and his love for him and the visits keep happening. Tom continues to Deny everything Gatsby says just because he doesn't want Gatsby to gain her back. Even though Tom doesn't want Gatsby to gain her back, there's a problem with himself. Tom cheats on Daisy.

 Tom is not innocent himself. Both Tom and Gatsby are not accepting the contemporary and can't face either of them being with Daisy.
